Jesus told his disciples, "If you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven." Why would God ever want a Christian NOT to forgive someone? The goal of not forgiving is to forgive!

How do we reconcile this "judging" with Jesus' prohibition of judging in Matthew 7:1-5?
How do we reconcile this "judging" with the fact that we aren't able to see inside anyone else's heart?
