The Mission of the Church

The Christian church's mission is really God's mission. God sends us to join him in his mission of forgiving and not forgiving sins. When Christians function according to God's mission, their words are as authoritative and valid as if they came from God's own mouth.

Discussion questions

How is this lesson reflected in the forgiveness that the pastor speaks? "God, our heavenly Father, has been merciful to us and has given his only Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. Therefore, as a called servant of Christ and by his authority, I forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."
